Adding your Bank of America Card to Apple Watch makes contactless payments faster and more convenient. Once your card is connected, you can pay with a quick double-click of the side button and a tap of your wrist at compatible payment terminals.
This guide walks you through the entire process, from selecting your card in the Bank of America app to completing Apple’s verification.
How to Add your Bank of America Card to Apple Watch
To begin, open the Bank of America mobile app and sign in to your account.
From the main account screen, scroll past your banking accounts until you reach the Credit Cards section. If you have multiple credit cards, choose the one you want to use with your Apple Watch.
After opening the card details page, scroll down until you find the Digital Wallets section. Tap Add Cards to Apple Wallet to begin the setup.
Verify Your Card Information
Bank of America will ask you to verify that you have the physical card before it can be added.
Enter the following information:
- Card expiration date
- Three-digit security code (CVV) from the back of the card
Once both fields are completed, tap Verify.
This verification step helps protect your account by ensuring that only someone with the physical card can add it to a digital wallet.
Choose Apple Watch as Your Device
After verification, you’ll see a message explaining that you’re about to connect with Apple Wallet. Tap Yes to continue.
On the next screen, Apple asks where you’d like to add the card. If your Apple Watch is paired with your iPhone, it will appear as an available option.
Select Apple Watch to continue adding your Bank of America Card to Apple Watch.

Review Your Card Details and Accept the Terms
Apple displays your name and the last four digits of your card so you can confirm you’re adding the correct one.
Tap Continue after checking the information.
You’ll also see a notice explaining how certain information, such as card-related data and device usage, may be shared between Apple and Bank of America to help verify your identity and improve security.
Next, review the Bank of America terms and conditions. These explain how your card works within Apple Wallet without changing your existing card benefits or rewards.
When you’re ready, tap Agree.
Wait for the Verification to Finish
Apple and Bank of America will now complete the verification process.
This usually takes around 15 to 20 seconds. Keep the app open while the setup finishes.
When the process is complete, a blue check mark will confirm that your Bank of America Card to Apple Watch has been added successfully. You’ll also typically receive a notification on your Apple Watch confirming the card is ready to use.
Understanding the Default Card on Apple Watch
During the watch setup, Apple won’t ask you to choose a default payment card.
Instead, your Apple Watch automatically uses the same default card that’s set in the Wallet app on your iPhone. If you’d like a different card to be used by default, simply change the default card in your iPhone’s Wallet settings, and your watch will follow that preference.
Why Use Apple Watch for Payments?
Using your Apple Watch for purchases is one of the fastest ways to pay in stores.
Some of the biggest benefits include:
- No need to take out your phone or wallet.
- Simply double-click the side button and hold your wrist near the payment terminal.
- Perfect for quick trips, workouts, or walks when you don’t want to carry extra items.
- You continue earning the same cashback, points, and rewards as when using your physical card.
Adding your Bank of America Card to Apple Watch doesn’t change your credit card benefits. It simply gives you a faster and more convenient way to make secure contactless payments wherever Apple Pay is accepted.
